A Small Beginning
I didn’t start this blog because I had something profound to say. I started it because my days have become a mix of fibro pain, anxiety, and the constant effort of trying to keep my mind occupied. Most mornings feel like a slow negotiation with my own body, and most afternoons are spent trying to find something — anything — that gives me a bit of relief or distraction.
I’ve kept journals before. Quiet ones. Honest ones. The kind where you write things down because you need somewhere to put them, not because anyone will ever read them. And when I look back, the entries that meant the most weren’t the big emotional ones. They were the small moments — the tiny pauses where something softened, even if only for a minute.
That’s what I’m trying to collect here.
Today started the way most days do: pain first, anxiety second. I sat on the edge of the bed for a minute, letting everything settle. I didn’t feel spiritual. I didn’t feel motivated. I didn’t feel anything except tired. But I got up anyway. I made a coffee. I stood by the window. And for a few seconds, the world felt quiet enough for me to breathe properly.
It wasn’t a breakthrough. It wasn’t a revelation. It wasn’t even comfort, really. Just a pause. A small one. But it was there.
Later, I tried one of my hobbies — not because I was full of energy, but because I’ve learned that even ten minutes of focus can take the edge off the noise in my head. It helped a little. Not much, but enough. And I noticed that “enough” is sometimes all I get, and sometimes all I need.
I’m not writing this blog to inspire anyone. I’m not writing it to teach or preach. I’m writing it because my life is made of small pauses, and I want somewhere to put them. Somewhere to say, “This is what today felt like,” without having to turn it into a lesson or a performance.
If someone reads this and feels a bit less alone in their own slow days, that’s a bonus. But even if no one does, this space will still matter to me.
So this is the beginning.
Nothing polished.
Nothing dramatic.
Just a small pause from an ordinary day.
