Fibro Moment - The Jolt

Fibro Moment - The Jolt
The Pain Jolt

Yesterday was one of those days where fibro decided to mix things up. The usual background noise was there — the dull ache, the heaviness, the tiredness that sits in the bones — but then came something sharper.

Out of nowhere, a shooting pain ran through my fingers. Quick, sudden, like someone had flicked a live wire under the skin. It made me jolt, the kind of involuntary jump you can’t control. My shoulder joined in too, aching in that deep, dragging way it does when it’s been pushed past its limit, even though I hadn’t done anything to earn it.

It’s strange how fibro can be both constant and surprising. You think you’ve learned its patterns, and then it throws something new at you just to remind you who’s really in charge.

But the moment passed. They always do. And I carried on — a little slower, a little more aware, but still moving.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, meet me in these sharp moments.
Give me steadiness when my body jolts,
and peace when the aches linger.
Walk with me through the small shocks and the quiet hours,
and let Your calm settle where the pain tries to take hold.
Amen.
